Travel Itinerary
Day 1 - Nairobi-Chogoria – Meru Mount Kenya Lodge (Bandas)
- After a hearty breakfast, depart from your Nairobi hotel for a 3 to 3.5-hour drive.
- Arrive in time for a delicious lunch, followed by a thrilling 4×4 drive to the edge of the bamboo forest.
- Embark on a trek through the dense bamboo forest, covering a distance of 30 km, until you reach the Bandas.
- Explore the lodge surroundings with stunning vistas.
- Enjoy a well-deserved dinner and a comfortable overnight stay at the Bandas, featuring single beds, hot showers, and bonfire self-catering bandas.
Day 2 - Meru Mount Kenya Lodge (Bandas) to Roadhead
- Start your day with a satisfying breakfast at the Bandas.
- Trek to the roadhead, covering a distance of 7 km.
- After lunch, take the opportunity to explore Nithi Falls, Mau Mau Caves, and Lake Eli’s.
- Recharge with dinner and spend the night at Roadhead Campsite.
Day 3 - Uphill Trek to Mintos Campsite
- Begin the day with a nourishing breakfast.
- Embark on an uphill trek, enjoying your lunch en route.
- Relish dinner and spend the night at Mintos Campsite.
Day 4 - Mintos to Summit – Mackinders
- Rise early for a pre-dawn breakfast.
- Commence your summit trek at 2:00 a.m., reaching the summit at 6:30 a.m. for a breathtaking sunrise.
- Capture stunning views of Kilimanjaro and the coastline during a 10 to 15-minute photography session.
- Descend via Austrian Hut to Mackinders camp for a well-deserved breakfast.
- Spend the day immersed in the beauty of the surroundings.
- Indulge in dinner and rest overnight at Mackinders Camp.
Day 5 - Mackinders Camp to Met Station
- Enjoy breakfast at Mackinders Camp.
- Descend through moorland and vertical Borges to reach Met Station, arriving in time for lunch.
- Experience dinner and an overnight stay at the Met Station campsite.
Day 6 - Met Station – Gate – Nairobi
- Start the day with breakfast at Met Station.
- Descend to the Naro Moru Park Gate, covering a distance of 10 km.
- Connect with your transportation back to Nairobi, arriving in the afternoon.
